The HIMARS, which stands for High Mobility Artillery Rocket System is a lightweight multiple rocket launcher mounted on a truck, was developed in the United States .
The HIMARS is loaded with six rockets or 1 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles in the US Army 's new Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) line of vehicles 5 tons, and can launch the full line of munitions nammed MLRS Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) . The HIMARS has interchangeable parts with the MLRS M270A1, but carrying only half the load of missiles than the M270A1.
