On October 2016, the US Department of Defense successfully demonstrated one of the world’s largest micro-drone swarms at China Lake with 103 Perdix drones launched from 3 F/A-18 Super Hornets.
"This demonstration is one of the first examples of the Pentagon using teams of small, inexpensive, autonomous systems to perform missions once achieved only by large, expensive ones."
Second part of the Video shows a demonstration of the LOCUST prototype drones, a quite similar project of large amount of small drones operating in group launched by a ground platform.
Last part of the video shows refueling of several US Navy F-18's performed by US Air-Force KC-135 Stratotanker.
